This post started out as a prescription for depression. We considered it a topical post, given the number of young people who claim to suffer from depression. Statistics paint no better picture either, showing a whopping 17.3 million adult sufferers in the US alone. However, in recent weeks, we changed it to a prescription for mass murders.
That is a response to the emergence of an even more topical issue. In point of fact, some would say it is a pressing issue and who can argue with that? We are referring here to mass murders. We therefore decided to amend our topic to consider a prescription for mass murders. And no, it is not about gun control.
If you must be political, you can slot it into background check. The reason you can list it as part of a background check is that politicians speak as if we are all crazy. How did that crazed guy (no gal yet, mercifully) get his hands on an assault rifle? Oh, legally, you say? Yes, legally.
And yet the mass murders continue apace. Let me confess, I don’t know how young parents focus at work, knowing that their child may return from school in a body bag. Or, for that matter, how they sleep at night. A cop recently shot a man in his own bed.
Was she mentally deranged? Who knows? But left to the politicians and her defense lawyer, the answer might be a resounding “yes.” So yes, you can claim that any strategy that addresses depression as part of mass shootings is a background check.
A Merry Heart Is The Prescription For Mass Murders.
Needless to say, we are apolitical, as you might have garnered if you have been with us for some time. We are heaven-focused and that stance usually leaves no space for politics. However, we observe that our favorite book has something to say about the prescription for mass murders.
The bible claims to know a better way around depression. It calls this good medicine. As you may know, the very existence of a qualifier immediately implies that the opposite quantity exists. In this case, it means that there must be bad medicine.
You know, like your chemical antidepressants. We are being careful not to mention names, not wanting big Pharma on our tails. Nonetheless, you yourself know these drugs and have a few in your medicine cabinet. Claiming to make your depression go away, they caution against suicidal thoughts. Ha! Spare me, is what I say, as I go in search of good medicine.
The Bible calls its good medicine a merry heart and we don’t mind naming it right here. God is not coming after us for advertising His good medicine. This good medicine is the reason you will not find a successful business or career person shooting up a school or store. His success makes his heart merry, providing him with a prescription for mass murders.
Human Interaction Will Prevent Mass Murders
Neither will you find an unemployed person who exercises and interacts with others committing mass murders. Recent studies show that a person’s social media posts are happier after physical exercise.
People who are busy with their lives, networking with others, will not likely commit mass murders. Because, like it or not, the mass murderer is a loner, holed up in some corner of the world. He might have an acolyte or two but they are essentially all alone.
You will not find him on any exercise trail or engaged in any human interaction. He even shuns and hates his own mother, oftentimes killing them first. On the contrary, one with a merry heart will not commit murders of any sort. Human interaction thus becomes a prescription for mass murders.
God Identified This Danger Even At Creation.
From the very beginning, God recognized the danger of being alone. God said then that it is not good for man to be alone. If politicians would pay attention to the bible, they might find some actionable pointers for policy. They can then adapt these as a prescription for mass murders. But I guess far be it from politicians to pay attention to God. Oh well.
God then took steps to address the problem. Hello woman and welcome human interaction! Be that as it may, we constantly break that code. And you may know that each time we break God’s code, we end up with disasters. By the same token, aligning with God’s codes results in harmony.
And please don’t try to get us into trouble by asking for a list of code-breaking tragedies. You can readily make up your own list by reading the news on any given day. Climate change? Check. Hyper-liberalism? Check. Etc.
Like at creation, many sages through the ages have also identified the real danger in being alone. Take King Solomon for instance. Granted, he did take the solution to this problem to the extreme.
He collected three hundred wives and seven hundred concubines. In spite of these excesses, he kindly left us an actionable pointer for resolving the issue of being alone.
Togetherness Will Facilitate A Merry Heart
It is a veritable prescription for mass murders. Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. That is, even if the devil wants to overpower a mind, if there are two of you, you can withstand him.
And God help the demon that attempts to warp a group of three! He is likely to be thoroughly trounced. Togetherness is a definite prescription for mass murders. And please don’t think for one moment that the devil is unaware of this programming point.
Observe. He waited until Eve was alone before coming to her with his damning proposition. She missed her own prescription for mass murders by being alone. In the same way, the demon or whatever is the agent of mass murders waits until an individual is alone.
That is when he starts to suggest shooting up a school or a mall. At that point, the man is falling and has no one to help him up. Or as King Solomon said: But woe to him who is alone when he falls. For he has no one to help him up.
Your Personal Prescription For Mass Murders
In like manner, each of us is susceptible to the seduction of Satan if we are alone. Observe how the bible says that the heart of man, that is, you and I, is desperately wicked? And it is that wickedness that, in a lonely mind, grows to become mass murders.
I doubt that there is a gene for mass murder. Such people are made in the crucible of loneliness and in the absence of a prescription for mass murders. Additionally, the Bible cautions that we should never assume that we cannot fall.
Or as the English man would say, “There, but for the grace of God, go I.” Every one of us is vulnerable to the hateful seduction of the devil. Which is why we each need a prescription for mass murders. And from the above, what you need to do is clear.
First, develop a merry heart by being around people. Next, avoid too many instances of alone time. You can add online time to that. Because although you appear to be interaction, that is no human interaction.
Third, work on all your relationships, even if you find it tough. Finally, don’t allow the devil to isolate you by persuading you that other people are bad. Remember, you are not perfect either.
The single source of all these actions is, of course, Jesus. Once He is in your life, He gives you a merry heart. Besides, with Jesus, you are never truly alone. Finally, He gives you the power to work on your earthly relationships.
Maranatha!
