I don’t know if this is the year. Even our Lord Jesus Christ could not tell you if this is the year in which church will cease. When the disciples asked Him about the end times, He confessed it was not in His hands. As we saw in an earlier post (arranged marriage) traditionally, when the groom finds a wife, he returns home.
Once there, he builds a house and prepares to bring his bride home. When the father sees that everything is ready, he gives the signal for the son to go and get his bride. In lie manner, whether or not this is the year in which the church will cease is in God’s hands. You see, Jesus is the groom, we are His bride and God is the Father.
And God the Father is the only one who can give the signal, so don’t let anybody deceive you that they know. Nobody knows if this is the year in which church will cease. One word about the cessation of the church. If you are familiar with the book of Revelation in the bible, you know that after the Rapture, there is no mention of the church.
In any case, what would the church be doing on earth after Jesus has taken His bride home? Since the church is the bride of Jesus, it follows that the church ceases with the Rapture. So, we ask ourselves again. Is this the year in which the church will cease? And as we said, we don’t know but it is necessary to speculate from time to time. That is to ensure we are ready and will not be left behind.
This May Be The Year In Which Church Will Cease
The disciples were very smart to ask Jesus when the end would be. They wanted to prepare and be ready. Somehow, they sensed they should not be left behind when Jesus comes to take His own home. And although Jesus could not tell them, it behooves us to also ask this question from time to time. So, again as we set out on another year, we wonder if this is the year the church will cease.
You may wonder why now. Well, all that can be shaken seems to have been shaken all of last year. With so much global anxiety and uncertainty around the coronavirus, there was a whole lot of shaking. And we have not even added a million lives lost to the pandemic.
From Prime Ministers, Presidents, Dictators, to peasants and princes have been shaken. Economies are collapsing, some industries are sunk forever. There has undeniably been shaking across the board. And unless you have an anchor for your soul, you too might be shaking. The anchor for your soul is none other than Jesus, the Son of God.
And if you are on the Lord’s side, you know that In Jesus, there is no shaking. You are part of an unshakeable Kingdom. If you are familiar with scriptures, you already know that only one thing stands secure in all this shaking. That is the Kingdom of God. The bible talks about it in Hebrews 12:28. Because this passage also contains a prescription for the future of our new life, I quote it below.
The Year In Which Church Will Cease Is Your Year Of Grace
Why do I speak of a new life? It is because if you are truly in Christ, you are a new creature. If Jesus is not to leave you behind at the Rapture, you must have that new life. Our scripture says: “Therefore since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace. By which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”
Here is the prescription portion of that passage: “Let us have grace.” Do you have grace? Many of us don’t even know the meaning of grace. No, I don’t mean its definition but its experience. Do you know that grace means you don’t have to come to God with any virtue in yourself? In any case, we know that in us, there is no good thing. (Romans 7:18).
What God gives, He gives you because of who He is, not because of anything you are or have done. That is grace and many of us miss it when we think we can “work” for God. When we think we can please God by fasting more or praying more, we don’t know grace
But from now on, you will know grace. Because unless you know grace, Jesus will not take you with Him when He comes for His own. And, as you know, we want to be among the number that will go to be with the Lord at the Rapture. That is our primary goal and we shall not miss it, in Jesus’ name.
Grace Allows You To Serve God Acceptably
It does not matter if this turns out not to be the year in which church will cease. Just ensure we have grace and live in a constantly rapturable state.
The verse continues by saying it is by this grace that we serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Many believers do not know that God does not always accept our service. He is God and is not bound to accept, just because we claim to be serving Him. Don’t you recall what He said to the church workers who claimed to have raised the dead in His name?
“Depart from me, you workers of iniquity.” Those church workers did a lot of miracles in God’s name and yet, God chased them from Heaven into hell. He referred to their service as works of lawlessness or iniquity. God even says there are some people whom, if we pray for them, He will not accept. It might also surprise you to learn that there are offerings He rejects.
But when you have the grace of God, everything you do for God will be acceptable to Him. His heart will bless you just as Isaac’s heart blessed his son after the stew pleased him. God will help you because you are depending totally on Him knowing the experience of grace.
Maranatha!
