We Need The Presence Of The Lord

Many of us love and enjoy the presence of family, friends, and loved ones. So it is with being in the presence of the Lord Jesus. But how can we pursue the presence of Jesus Christ so we will enjoy His presence? His presence is the most awesome and wonderful thing that can happen to believers. Many believers don’t have an idea how the presence of the Lord is much needed.

Moses knew what the presence of the Lord would do for him and the Israelites, so he asked God for His presence. The word of God in Psalms 16:11 says that in the presence of the Lord there is fullness of joy and at His right hand pleasures forevermore. Who in the world doesn’t want to be joyful and enjoy real pleasures. This kind of joy is unexplainable. Receiving the fullness of God is connected to His presence.

Benefits of Abiding in His Presence

There are a lot of benefits we derive from abiding in the presence of the Lord. The word of God in John 15:7 says if we abide in Him and His words abide in us, we will ask what we desire and it shall be done for us. This is great news. But our desires should be according to His will.

If we want an encounter and an amazing fellowship with the Holy Spirit, Who downloads spiritual things into our spirit, then we have to abide in the presence of the Lord. Jesus Christ said in John 14:16 that our Helper, the Holy Spirit will teach us all things and bring to our remembrance the word that we have studied. Great success and prosperity are some of the benefits so it is imperative to abide in His presence.

His Glorious Presence Brings Protection

The enemy of our souls will not be able to attack us because of the presence of the Lord. King David, knew how to dwell in the presence of the Lord. His enemies were no match for him. Confidence and power to defeat our enemies will come from abiding in the presence of God. Psalm 91 tells us of the great protection we have because of His presence. The glorious presence of the Lord drives out fear and fear is of the devil. Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death His presence is always with us as believers.

One Thing Is Needed

One may ask how we can experience the presence of the Lord? The first is by repentance, then confessing and believing in Him as Lord and welcoming Him into our heart to be the our Lord. We can simply ask through prayer. Being in a place of prayer is a great way to abide in His presence. Consistently studying and meditating on the word of God, intense worship and praise with a heart surrendered to Jesus cultivates His presence.

The word of God is in our mouths, hearts and near us so this makes it possible to enjoy His presence anywhere, anytime and at all times. It is the perfect will of the Lord that we are always in His presence. Indeed we need the presence of the Lord always. We can not live without his presence as believers.
