We continue with our need to live inside of God as a way for avoiding sicknesses and pain. In other words, God should be our environment. Our last post asked us about where we are, the question that God posed to Adam in the garden. You may know that that was the beginning of the end for him and all mankind. That is, until Jesus came to rescue us from the devil and bring us back to God, our dwelling place. Keep in mind, we are on the fifth and final pillar of the series we started at the beginning of the year.
And the reason we have to be in good health on a heaven readiness blog is not far to seek. We need to live long enough to find and fulfill God’s purpose for creating us. You know that God is a God of purpose and He created us to give Him pleasure. Sadly, many of us who even live long are not letting God derive any pleasure from our lives. Even more sadly, some Christians die young and never have time to even discover God’s reason for creating them. This series on Divine Health is designed to avoid such a tragedy.
How did Moses know That God Is Our Dwelling Place?
Now, back to the man of God who walked closely with God for forty years and understood that God is our dwelling place. In the very first verse of Psalm ninety, Moses claimed God as his dwelling place in all generations. That is an extremely powerful statement, especially from a man who had never met Jesus who came to bring us back to God. Even those of us who have met Jesus sometimes have a hard time appreciating that God is our dwelling place.
The answer is in Psalm 103 and it is all about God. You see, God is a kind father and often gives you what you want, in addition to giving you what you need. A father may take a child on a summer vacation. That is not a need for that child but it is just something the child wants. And out of the kindness of his heart, the father does it for his child. God is like that and in the wilderness, He saw that Moses wanted to truly know him.
The others meanwhile? They were only interested in eating and drinking, satisfying their flesh, and no I am not talking about you. So what Did God do. Verse 7 of psalm 103 says “He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.” God saw into their hearts and gave each one their greatest needs. He made His ways known to Moses while the others only had His acts – of providing manna and quail on a daily basis.
We Must Make God Our Dwelling Place
The way I like to think of it is this. When God says “seek my face,” only Moses responded with “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” So God showed His ways to Moses. Bible scholars should know that Jesus is the way to the truth that leads to life. But even of you did not know, read it here.
The answer to the question of how Moses knew God as our dwelling place even without meeting Jesus is that God revealed Jesus to him. But to those who responded with “Your hand, Lord, I will seek, God gave provisions. Bread and meat; clothes and houses. Just as Moses and the children of God were together in the wilderness and God dealt with them differently.
So it is with us when we gather together in the church. God sees into your heart and gives you what you desire there. Some attend church to get miracles of houses, cars, money wives, husbands, children, promotion, etc. God knows that there is nothing wrong in desiring these provisions. After all, he is Jehovah Jireh and He gives them what they want.
We Always Have A Choice
A handful in the church may desire a closer walk with God, a fuller knowledge of God and a greater love for God. Like Moses, who knew God as our dwelling place long before Jesus manifested in the physical, such people receive spiritual blessings. God shows them His ways, He gives them greater understanding of His word, He anoints them for great exploits. We could go on and on, but those who only want the acts of God – manna and meat – will still not be impressed.
But remember that one of the three names we are still mentioning now is Moses. All those people, an estimated six million men, have remained nonentities even after Jehovah Jireh gave them provisions. The one to whom God revealed His ways is the one we are still talking about today. Do you appreciate that God is our dwelling place, your home address? Then you will have a legacy, not only in this world but also in the world to come
As always, the choice is ours. Will you choose, like Moses, to know God’s ways or are you satisfied with His provisions and acts. The one way of God and to God is Jesus. When we are in Jesus, we will surely arrive home in heaven. God becomes our dwelling place, our eternal external environment, where there is no pain nor death. Say yes to Jesus today.
To your health!
Maranatha!
I thoroughly enjoyed this article. I constantly dwell on God’s goodness I am 92. In 1967 after living without God for 35 years I bumped eyebrow on a window. Next morning had full blown cellulitis. July 5 I knew the inflammation was likely to reach brain. 4 men walked through outer walls of the room I was lying in. One came to my bed, talked with me. Took me by the hands, stood me on my feed eye and Saul I DIED FOR YOU. Put me bacpck on the bed and thry all walked back through the wall to outside. Ten minutes later the dictionary made rounds and explained “. This thing has stopped. We are going to make it. When doctor fismissed me at 6 weeks, he told me Inwas the first miracle case he had ever attended. Visions, dreams and other things I had dysfunctional family and we NEVER went to church. Today I am an artist, writer of poetry, play musical instruments, all without prior training. MY DWELLING PLACE TODAY IS IN CHRIST. I walk with GID EVERY DAY!
