It was my son who shared what he called an architectural quote with me. Those professionals believe that the first house you build is for your enemy. The second one is for your friend and the third one is for you. The reason, I am told, is that you make a lot of mistakes the first time around and by the third time, you have sorted out all your mistakes. That third house is the house you can sit back and enjoy. Well, they might have taken a cue from the bible which speaks of the glory of the latter house.
Several cultures have adages that suggest that when a palace burns down, the glory of the latter building is greater. They too might have borrowed from the bible. The Bible declares that the glory of the latter house shall be greater than that of the former. And in case you are concerned that you are not a king and that the palace adage does not apply to you, relax. The Bible also says that Christ has made us kings and priests to our God.
That means that if you are in Christ; if you have invited Jesus into your life, you are a king. And what’s more, you will reign on the earth. There is no doubt that the fire that engulfed Notre Dame might make the new one better. Of course, we shall have to wait until the 8th of December 2024 to confirm. These all point to the fact that the glory of the latter house is always greater than that of the former.
God Is A Specialist In The Glory Of The Latter
Remember, we are on a journey to start embracing problems. We said that, with God, every negative situation can become a positive problem. And if you can start embracing problems instead of fighting them off, you are in for a pleasant surprise. Your life will take a turn for the better.
God specializes in bringing good out of evil. In God’s hands, all things, (including those we consider negative) work out for our good. He did it for Joseph and He will do it for every child of His. By now, you may be wondering how you become a child of God. It is simple, not easy, but simple. Jesus did all the hard work and gave us adoption into God’s family as a gift. You become God’s child by inviting Jesus into your life. It is that simple.
If you have never done so, try it today and watch how the glory of the latter becomes a reality in your life. Your house may not burn down. Why, you may not even have a house but you have something you cherish. A great job, a wonderful spouse, or something very dear to your heart. And then tragedy happens and there is a loss. Your first thought is to curl up and die. But if God helps you to welcome it as knowing it is from the hands of a good God, you experience a turn-around.
You Must Be A Child Of God
The peace of God starts flooding your heart and God comforts you even after the loss of children. He did it for Rachel and the comfort was fulfilled in Jesus. She lamented over the loss of her children. God promised her comfort, charging her to stop her weeping. Comfort came because God caused her children to return from the land of the enemy. That way, the glory of her latter end was better than her beginning.
We can go on and on, citing examples from the bible of people who suffered disasters. In the end, they gave thanks to God because what came out of the disaster turned out better. Please note that whatever such example you find is of someone who had entrusted their life to God. God keeps you in perfect peace when you focus your mind on Him and trust Him
Let me ask you. In whom is your trust? Your Uncle, your mother? If your trust is in God, the glory of the latter end of your life will be greater than the beginning. But if you are trusting in yourself or your qualifications, disaster may be the end. The choice is yours. Choose Jesus and enjoy greater glory.
