As you go along with us on the positive problem series, you will start to embrace negative situations. Those situations that used to turn you off now become adventures with God. You will fall in love with Jesus and your life will never remain the same. Does that mean you will understand everything He does or asks you to do? Not at all. Indeed, the more you like God’s commands, the less likely they are from God. Are we saying you will like or enjoy obeying every command He gives you? Far from it.
However, once you learn to listen and do whatever He says, you discover you fall in love with Jesus. You see, God is good, not as a mantra to repeat but in reality. All the same, you only discover that God is good by experience. Nobody can teach you the goodness of God, the same way nobody can tell you whether your wife or husband is good. You have to experience your spouse by yourself. The Bible is clear that the relationship between us and Jesus is like a marriage.
You come to Jesus by faith and learn to submit to Him and, in time, you fall in love with Him. It is like an arranged marriage to a good husband; God arranged it between His son and ourselves. At first, his commandments sound very strange. Take the one about losing your life to find it. Or the one about what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and suffers the loss of his soul. You only understand such things after you have lived with Jesus for a while.
You Must fall In Love With Jesus
Of course, you must fall in love with Him for such statements to make sense. Otherwise, every time He makes a demand on your love, you resist. And if you resist God, you are falling in love with the enemy side. You do know who the captain of the enemy side is, do you not? That’s right. His name is Satan, our great enemy.
Please whatever you do, do not fall in love with the devil. If you do, you will end up with him in hell. On the other hand, if you take the time and patience to fall in love with Jesus, He will take you home with Him. And you know where His home is. It is heaven where he has gone to prepare a place for us. He promised to return and get us so we can be with him forever. I know you want that for yourself and your family.
God Is Good By Experience
As you might imagine, I have a lot of discussions with other Christians since iron sharpens iron. These are people who fall in love with Jesus over and over again. In all those conversations, one thing never fails to impress me. Most find it hard to confess that God is good. I am not talking of just saying “God is good all the time; all the time, God is good.” That is lip service but to know and confess that God is good God seems hard for even Christians.
The latest example is when someone said, instead of declaring the goodness of God, “God knows what He is doing.” Of course, God knows what He is doing but so does the devil. The devil knows he is killing, stealing, and destroying. The difference is that the devil is evil and God is good. But until you are convinced of the goodness of God, it may be difficult for you to fall in love with him.
At best, you will continue to dwell in Him for several other reasons. It is the same way a woman stays with a husband, not for love but for the children’s sake. Do you know that such a Christian may lose their reward even if they reach heaven? That is because Jesus gives His rewards to those who fall in love with Him. No, we are not making that up, read it here. And then do the needful as follows: Persuade yourself that God is good. Next, make up your mind to keep His commandments. Finally, do all in your power to fall in love with Jesus.
Maranatha!
