I hear you say “yes, of course” before wondering what a stupid question that is. I thank you. Because by the end of this post, you will see you were not really ready. By the same token, you will be well on your way to being ready for your miracles. So, allow me to ask you again, “Are you ready for miracles?”
We all believe that we are ready all the time for miracles. I know I am. Is that not why we pray and so fervently? But before you stop reading, let us consider a related question. How do you know you are ready for your miracles? How much preparation have you made toward your miracle?
If you start to answer with “well…” you are definitely not ready for miracles. The bible is full of such examples. Mercifully, Jesus helped them to get ready and then gave them their miracles. My favorite instance happened at the tomb of Lazarus.
Mary and Martha were not ready for their miracle. Fortunately, during the short teaching that preceded the miracle, Jesus was indirectly asking our question: are you ready for miracles to happen today? Martha complained but Jesus continued to teach. And to prepare them for their miracle, He gave an instruction.
Take away the stone, He said. Until the stone was removed from blocking Lazarus, he remained dead. But once they put the work in to remove the stone, they were ready for the miracle of resurrection. Are you ready for miracles now? Or are you hoping that someone will take the stone away for you first? Until you are doing the necessary preparatory work, you are not ready for the miracle.
Are You Ready For Miracles In Your Comfort Zone?
Now, don’t get me wrong. Not all stones require us to take them away. You remember the stone at Jesus’s own tomb. That stone was no longer blocking the grave when the two Marys arrived. So how did Jesus ask this question of them? Are you ready for miracles to happen to you now?
The answer is in Matthew 28.1 and is extremely instructive, so please pay attention. Because it shows you cannot have miracles in your comfort zone. Miracles require an action – a difficult one – on your part. That verse says: Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn…. Let us stop there for a moment to consider how they were not in their comfort zone.
This was the day after the Sabbath when these women must have prepared a huge meal. They deserved to have the following morning in bed, sleeping late. But as dawn was approaching, when everybody else was still in bed, they woke up. The bible says “Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.”
How many nights have you woken up early to prepare for your miracle? Are you ready for miracles? Are you waiting for your miracle in your comfort zone? You may wait forever and it won’t come, according to the Bible at Proverbs 26.15. The man was waiting for someone to help him bring his hand into his mouth with the food. To him (and others like him) we can ask, are you ready for miracles? In his own case, the answer is no. How about you? How about me?
Stretch Out Your Hand
To further consider how you have a part to play to actualize your miracle, we look at another example. Unless you understand this concept, this example sounds totally foolish. The bible clearly says that the man’s hand was withered, paralyzed. But even here, Jesus moved the man out of his comfort zone.
He said to him who had a paralyzed hand, stretch out your hand. What was with that? The paralyzed hand could no more stretch than a dead man could rise But Jesus wanted him to be ready for his miracle. By asking him to stretch out his paralyzed hand, he was gauging his preparedness for his miracle. He was asking in effect, Are you ready for miracles?
You remember we asked a couple of related questions at the start. How do you know you are ready for your miracles? How much preparation have you made toward receiving your miracle? Well, here is a man whom Jesus forced to be ready and it was not comfortable.
In addition to praying for miracles, what instructions has Jesus been giving you? You have refused because they are tough. Well, He is asking you through this post “are you ready for miracles? Because, if you are, you will not be put off by the toughness of God’s instructions.
If you want to get higher pay, you will go to school, even if it is night school. Perhaps you are praying for a life partner and God says to clean up your act. You will not say until God brings the person. Obedience is your next step. That will be a part of your preparation for your miracle. You cannot build a house until you have bought a piece of land.
How Are You Ready For Miracles?
Examples are everywhere. Christians pray until they are blue in the face. And then, they accuse God of not answering their prayers. No, they are the ones refusing to carry out the instructions necessary to prepare for miracles. There is always a step of faith waiting for you to take. Always.
How are you ready for miracles? Take a business for example. You are praying for a breakthrough miracle in your business. But you refuse to procure the necessary supplies. Is it when the breakthrough comes that you sill start to scramble? No. Your step of faith is to find money and get ready with all supplies. Then when the miracle shows, you are ready. So, allow me to ask you again, are you ready for miracles? Trust me, you are now more ready than when you started reading this post and that is a great outcome.
Maranatha!
