Yes, God created hell, but not for true believers in Jesus Christ. First, allow me to welcome you to the dawning of another year. Since you are reading this now, you made it across the years, and we are all still here. God is delaying the Rapture, which should take all His children to be with Him. He is likely waiting for one more person to be saved before He wraps up history, good and merciful God that He is.
Unless you truly know your scripture, the fact that God created hell might come as a shock to you. We dwell on it now because many people who truly love God may miss heaven just because they do not understand hell and its purpose. Some, perhaps because they consume so many social media posts, might not even believe that hell exists. The result is that they do not take the necessary steps to avoid ending up in hell.
Since we, who consume Heaven Readiness Posts, want to land in heaven, it is important to study the alternative. And we believe that the start of a New Year is a good time to let us know that God created hell. Yes indeed, but God only made it as a trash bin for the devil and his followers, the fallen angels. Please note that. Hell is meant for the devil and all who follow him, whether angels or humans.
God Created Heal For A Purpose
God is a deliberate God, or as some would say, a God of purpose. He does not act randomly, and He is not wasteful. Imagine you have a house, and trash starts to build up as you live from day to day. You will likely not let the trash pile up without trying to get rid of it. In the same way God created hell to house the trash in heaven, you will build a trash house outside your dwelling.
If you cannot afford an entire building for your trash, you will buy a trash bin for the unwanted items in your dwelling. That is exactly what happened when God created hell. Matthew 25.41 makes it clear that God did it to house the devil and his angels. “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”
You may know the story of the rebellion in heaven. Satan, with his lying ways, managed to persuade some angels to follow him. God created hell for the devil and those angels who agreed to follow satan. Incidentally, the devil is still busy today, trying to persuade people everywhere to join him. Anyone who agrees with him will end up in hell, where he is.
This is the warning in Romans 6.16. People did not seem to know about it, prompting Paul to introduce it as a question. “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey? Whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?”
Do Not Go To Hell
And that leads us to the next logical question: Am I one of the angels (or slaves) of God, or am I an angel (slave) of the devil? As always, we have a choice, a fact that has become evident while we considered the promises of God. Joshua told the children of God, “Choose you this day whom you will serve…”
Please do not choose to follow or serve the governor of hell. True, God created hell, but he did not mean it for humans. Unfortunately, humans who follow satan ultimately follow him home. On the other hand, those who follow Jesus eventually follow Him home. You now feel the need to choose who to follow, but fear that it is too late to change course.
With God, it is never too late, but you may not know where to start. Invite Jesus into your life. Jesus on the inside will help you to turn around (repent), and start studying your new master’s manual – the Bible. I see a good place to start your study, but do not stop there. After all, the Bible is God’s love letter to his loved ones. Start with Romans 12.:9-21. It will show you a mirror that you can look into every morning regarding your new life.
Remember, God created hell for satan and his followers, but you do not have to be one of them. God never sends anybody to hell; indeed, he sent Jesus to earth so we can follow Christ all the way to heaven. Sadly, some people reject Jesus and follow the devil all the way to hell. Do not be one of them.
Happy New Year
Mranatha!
