On our way to Divine health, we are now on the final pillar – the environment. The environment consists of two parts – external and internal and this is the next one of our posts on our internal environment. You may already know that the most critical component of our internal environment is Jesus, particularly His flesh and blood. In case you are wondering how your physical environment helps you on your way to heaven, here is a reminder. It is so that we can live long enough to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.
I hope you are doing well in that department by achieving what God created you to do. In this post, we look at what we take into our bodies, that is, our internal environment. Some people choose to make their internal environment an alcoholic one. Others fill their bodies with hard drugs and yet others with lies and other negativities.
And while they think that it has nothing to do with their souls, they are wrong. Dr. Phil concludes, based on scientific studies, that a man’s development stops the day he starts to use hard drugs. Besides, if you have ever seen an alcoholic, you know what you take into your body affects your mind and soul in a critical way.
So, to avoid that critical way from becoming a negative impact, Jesus counsels us to take His flesh and blood. He says we must ensure that our internal environment consists of positive and eternal values. You may wonder what is so special about His flesh and blood. Why not just eat good food, avoid alcohol and hard drugs and be done with it? These are great questions and many there are whose internal environment consists of wholesome food and other not-so-harmful stuff.
The Work Of God Must Not Replace God In Your Life
Except that there are two major problems with that situation. First, the stuff that we consider innocent – social media, the news, ordinary discussions, etc., are far from harmless. The work of ministry may even occupy our minds and time so much that we do not have time for God. That is why the bible cautions us to guard our hearts with all diligence. Some people allow the work of God’s ministry take the place of God in their lives. Jesus says the best way to avoid such a terrible situation is to fill your life with His flesh and blood.
There are two reasons why that is so important. First, Jesus recommends His flesh and blood as a better option than manna. As you probably know, manna is the bread that fell from heaven during the wilderness journey. Nowadays, bread no longer falls from heaven, you have to work for it, but it still leads to death.
You eat and eat and eat. At the end, what do you have? Death. So Jesus prescribes a meal – his flesh and blood – that can lead away from death into eternal life. But eating His flesh and blood – even symbolically – is so deep that when Jesus told His flowers about it, many turned away. Sadly, many of us are nominal Christians – Christians in name alone – and also turn away. We prefer manna, physical food, although we know it leads to death.
His Flesh And Blood Are The Real Deal
However, when you eat his flesh and blood, you will never die, you remain in God’s Presence forever. The choice is clear and it is one we have to make to walk with Him until we get into Heaven. The second reason Jesus wants us to feed on His flesh and blood has to do with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is Jesus’ gift to His people. When He was leaving to return to heaven after He rose from the grave, He made them a promise. He would send them the Holy Spirit once He arrived home in heaven. But this was only after they had had the Holy Communion during which He gave them His flesh and blood to eat. And, of course, they had to live in obedience to His commands.
With the Holy Spirit active in your life, you can live a blameless life. Notice that we are not talking here of a sinless life. We are all sinners, falling short of the glory of God. But those who have eaten his flesh and blood can be blameless. They have the Holy Spirit inside of them prompting them to repent every time they cross God’s line. The other night, at bible study, we heard how a simple but faulty comment about God was cause for repentance and forgiveness.
What Will You Choose?
Only the Holy Spirit can give a man the sensitivity of knowing his simple comment makes him a sinner. And only those who have His flesh and blood can have the Holy Spirit. Now, you and I both know that we are constantly falling short of God’s glory, even in our thoughts. So how do we ensure that we keep our insides clean and our minds unpolluted in this evil world? The answer is to have our lives so filled with His flesh and blood that there is no space for anything else.
What will you choose? To go deep with Him and eat His flesh and blood or desert Him because the idea is not palatable? I know my choice because when I eat His flesh, which was broken for me, I can keep my own flesh intact. When I drink His blood, which was shed for me, no evil can shed my own blood. The sum total of that is that I will live in good health.
And with that good health, I am able to pursue and try to fulfill God’s purpose for my life. Wont you join me? It starts with your readiness to make his flesh and blood your internal environment.
To Your health!
