We are now in school. It does not matter that it is kindergarten, we are here and our teacher is God. Job 22.22 is slightly longer than the trigger in the previous verse. This verse is like the school orientation sentence. It tells us we are there to receive instruction from God and lay up His words in our hearts. That must remind you of James who said in James 1:22 that we should not stop at hearing but go on to doing.
James added that only when we do will we be blessed. My version of the Bible adds the word ‘please’ to that verse: “Receive, please, instruction from His mouth, and lay up His words in your heart.” Do you recall how you had to cajole your child to go to school, that it is for his benefit even though it seemed tough? Well, God is our Father and He is appealing to us to stay in school.
He knows that if we stay the course, we will be like Him, decreeing a thing and having it established. To that end, I copy here a comment we received to the post on God’s Promises.
This series of teachings promises to be rich for both mature and young Christians. We will learn how we missed some things we have been wondering about.
May our hearts be receptive to this series of teachings. |
God’s Word Contains All We Need
Please note that for you to derive the full benefit from this series, we must participate in the discussion. The promise we have been discussing is my particular issue. You could say I contributed that to the series, so as I am writing, I am also learning. It may well be that by the end of this series, I will receive health whenever I decree health. Similarly, I hope you will successfully decree a thing before we complete this series.

To achieve that, you need to share the promises of God on which you are standing and claiming. Together, we shall see what the word of God says about it. After all, we are here to receive instruction from God. What, for instance, is the trigger for wealth, success, or victory? Send those promises to Heaven Readiness here.
Observe the plural nature of the promises. Our God is limitless and lavish. You can claim as many promises as you like, as long as you are ready to receive instruction from God. Please feel free to send them as often as necessary. The earlier you contribute the promises you wish to claim to the series, the better it is. By the end of this series, no promise of God would be out of reach for any of us. Meanwhile, we return to the advice to receive instruction from God.
How to Receive Instruction From God.
Did you know you could love somebody without liking them? Your relationship with your son makes you love him but his waywardness means you do not like him. It is the same with God. Some gods do not make their minds plain. You have to go through mediums to understand what they mean. But our God is not like that. He is likable in that He makes His mind plain. God does not like those gods either; they mutter and whisper.
Instead, our God sent messengers to write down His mind. So, to receive instruction from God, all you have to do is to study the Bible. Please do not laugh. I know that studying the Bible is not on your agenda. Even before the distractions of social media, studying the bible was tough. Reading the Bible is not too hard but studying it? That is worse than being in school. I know, but is it as tough as what Jesus did to bring the promises of God down to us? Start today.
Yesterday, I had to read a chapter four times before I understood the tiniest part of its meaning. And, it was not as if I was not ready to receive instruction from God. I was not distracted. As far as I can see, there are two options: Read the passage several times or remain a powerless Christian; study the Bible, no matter how hard, or stop trying to access the promises of God.
The Almighty Himself says we must receive instruction from God. I think the choice is clear. It is clear to me, even if I have to read a verse several times before the instruction enters my heart. More on that later.
Maranatha!
