Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins is how the bible puts our need for sacrifice. What that simply means is that for our sins to be forgiven some blood is required. That is why the people of God had to kill animals regularly. When God sees the blood, the sin is washed away just as the angel of death passed over their homes. But all those sacrifices did not permanently wash their sins away. Only the sufficient sacrifice of Jesus’ blood has the ability to do that. Did I hear a Hallelujah!?
Jesus could not have died if He was not first born. And that is why we take a moment in this spectacular season to wish you a Merry Christmas. The first Christmas was when Jesus stormed our world and turned it upside down. Enjoy the gift of God for our lives – responsibly of course. And don’t spend money you don’t have to buy gifts for people you may not love. |
Christmas represents the highest expression of God’s love to us and the peak of Jesus’ love for mankind. Jesus agreed to be born, fully knowing that He would become the sufficient sacrifice. Another Hallelujah! If you are a believer and do not become excited at the thought of Jesus’s birth, you should become today. It was the first step God took to make the sufficient sacrifice for us.
The Beauty Of The Sufficient Sacrifice
I just hope I can put the joy of Jesus into words but doubt it. Even the Apostle Paul ended up calling Him God’s indescribable gift. That shows how human vocabulary does not have the words for what Jesus did for you and me. The Apostle simply concluded by thanking God for Jesus and so should we. Glorious as it was, His birth would have been worthless without His death and resurrection. It was on the cross that He performed the sufficient sacrifice, shedding His blood for us.
On that cross, He removed God’s anger; He reconciled us with God and not for one day or one year. His death settled the quarrel between man and God forever and ever. That is how magnificent Jesus’ death is in the life of the believer. There is no longer any need for a sacrifice; Jesus paid it all.
Additionally, Jesus’ sacrifice satisfied all the requirements of the law. In those days, if you brought an animal for sacrifice, it had to be without blemish. It had to be perfect or else there was a costly penalty. Well, since Jesus was without sin, He was perfect. You now have a perfect and everlasting sacrifice. It cannot get any better than that and any who is yet to trust Jesus does not know what they are missing.
From today, we must learn to appreciate and embrace the sufficient sacrifice. Nothing else will do. Until we do that, we remain aliens from God. And aliens cannot enter Heaven when the trumpet call sounds at the Rapture. Will you be ready? Ensure you embrace the sufficient sacrifice that Jesus came to earth to give us.
Maranatha!
