If you think that heating chill sounds like speaking from both sides of our mouths, you are right. But that is the whole idea behind our series on positive problems. If you have missed earlier posts, I encourage you to go back and read them. Because understanding this idea is the best way you can walk with God. And you need to walk with God if you hope to make it to Heaven at the end. Because after all, heaven is God’s home and He will only permit his friends to enter there.
The family who experienced this heating chill lost their heating during the very cold spell that recently gripped the country. For several days, they shivered in the cold despite space heaters. When God heard their immediate prayers, He returned the outside temperature to spring weather. Yay! Their immediate problem was solved but not permanently. For three weeks, temperatures maintained their spring-like levels.
All the while, they were doing everything in their power to fix their heating units. The head of the family even took and aced a certification exam in refrigeration and air conditioning. At one point, a contractor came and fixed one of their units. But as long as the weather remained warm, there was no way to test the repair. To know whether the contractor did a good job or not, they needed cold weather.
That was when God stepped in with a return to winter weather. The chill gave them the chance to test their heating units and see a permanent solution to their problem. What about you? Can you embrace both the cold and the heat of your life as coming from God? Because this family belongs to God, it embraced both cold and heat. It turned out great in the end.
God Brought The Heating Chill
In their situation, God showed that He commands everything, cold, heat, wind, and water. Did the disciples not ask what manner of man Jesus was that even the winds and the waves obeyed him? It is a question we should stop from time to time to ask ourselves. The answer will leave us in awe of God. He gave this family a heating chill. There is no doubt that it was God who brought the spring weather in the depths of winter. And there is no doubt that he patiently waited for the family to fix their heating unit before returning the weather to winter.
He knew that the winter cold was the only way they could be sure their heat would work. I hope that as you are reading this, you know that God is greatly to be feared. Please note that it is only in the assembly of the saints that God is greatly feared. Are you one of God’s saints? That is, have you surrendered your life and heart to His Son, Jesus Christ? Unless you have given your life over to Jesus, you will be like Pharaoh.
The Godless One Thinks Everything Is A Coincidence
He was the man who asked that foolish question which showed he did not fear God. Just like we are talking about God now, Moses was talking to Pharaoh about God. Pharaoh asked Moses, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice?” I trust that as you are reading this, you are not asking the same question that Pharaoh asked. If you are, you will fail to understand that it was God who brought the heating chill to this family.
It was not a coincidence, as Pharaoh thought the plagues in Egypt were. He even tried to imitate them. Only a Godless man like Pharaoh sees coincidences in the acts of God. The child of God sees God at work in every situation. The hope now is that you will give your heart to Jesus so you can understand that the things that happen to you are not coincidences.
You know that they are coming to you from the hands of your loving father. And that, no matter how bad the situation, God will bring good out of it. Of course, for that to be your experience, you need two things. You have to love God. Next, you have to be called according to His purpose. Then and only then will all things work together for your good.
